Corns and Callus
Callus and corns are a build-up of hard skin as a response to abnormal pressure or friction. They can be caused by footwear, toe deformities or gait abnormalities.
Corns The hard skin of a corn is so dense that people often refer to them as “a small pebble” within the foot. Corns may be found between toes, on top of toes or on the soles of feet. In certain individuals, the skin beneath the corn or callous may ulcerate, which can become infected requiring more urgent podiatry care. Callus Callus is dry, thickened hard skin found around the edges of your heels and on the soles of your feet. It can be very uncomfortable, painful and prone to cracking. If not managed, overtime this cracking will bleed leading to infection. Corn pads and chemical callous removers can burn the skin and cause further damage. For this reason they are not recommended by our podiatrists. |
Katie Nilan Podiatry will safely remove your corns and callous and identify why they are occuring. This is a completely painless procedure which we can do in your first appointment under sterile conditions. And yes, you can walk after!
