The foot is made up of 26 bones, 33 joints, 106 ligaments, muscles, tendons and a vast network of nerves, arteries and veins….. it’s no wonder a lot can go wrong!
Designed to enhance motion of your foot and body, Orthotics work by modifying the forces between your foot and the ground.
Foot orthotics are customised insoles made specifically for you to correct the way you stand, walk or run. Developed to improve posture, redistribute pressure and correct the mechanical function of your feet, orthotics decrease the overloading forces on the structures of the foot and lower limb. This decreases pain levels, promotes faster healing rates thus reducing the likelihood of future injury.
Orthotics have been shown to help with heel spurs, bunions, arthritic joints, shin splints, knee, hip and lower back pain by aiding to correct the mechanics of the feet. In some cases, orthotics can be prescribed to redistribute high pressure loads on the feet aiding in the long-term health and prevention of corns, calluses and ulceration. While all good podiatrists can prescribe and fit an orthotic, we believe our working knowledge coupled with our comprehensive state of the art biomechanical assessment equipment, 3D laser foot scanning technology and hands-on-experience of the prescription, manufacture and fitting of custom orthotics provides our patients with an overall exceptional experience and quality product.
Our on-site lab allows us to finetune your orthotics during the fitting consultation and follow up consultation to achieve an excellent fit and most importantly, ensure they are comfortable.
